Cleveland Country Club announced this week it has entered into agreement with a well-known management company.

Starting Thursday the club’s day-to-day operations are being handled by Bobby Jones Links, a club management company named for professional golfer Bobby Jones. The company currently operates more than 200 clubs worldwide, managing everything from marketing and finances to guest services and programming.

The company will also oversee renovations to the club’s interior later this year.

The partnership is the next step in an ongoing effort to revitalize the country club. The effort began last year with a member-driven purchase of the club. In the last six months the club has seen its tennis courts resurfaced, bunkers on the golf course fixed up and improvements to parking areas.

“We’ve made a lot of progress in the last six months. Our membership has grown, and our trajectory is where we want it to be,” said David Teddy, president of Cleveland Country Club. “The member experience is going to be significantly improved in 2020, and we are excited about the partnership with Bobby Jones Links.”

As part of the new management deal with Bobby Jones Links the country club has also hired a new general manager, Allyson Darling.

A graduate of Johnson and Wales University, Darling will come to Shelby by way of The Mixon Club in Charleston, where she has been since 2018.

“She is a very talented person with lots of experience in club management,” said Teddy.

Darling will start working at the club later this month.

The new management deal with Bobby Jones Links is set for a one-year term with an option for the club to renew the deal for another two years.
